Other reviews were not as encouraging. And yet, from such humble beginnings emerged a series that survived long enough to sink into the DNA of multiple generations. I was very blessed to be in it for 19 years. Buck Owens and Roy Clark pictured left came on as hosts, and their stature made it easier to attract the biggest names in country music. But by the fifth episode it was a hit, and CBS picked it up for another season. When Hee Haw returned on December 29, , it would stay on the air for the next 24 years. Just not at CBS. Despite finishing its second season at No. Hee Haw was the only casualty of the purge to survive by moving into syndication, where it also picked up some new and much-beloved cast members in Gailard Sartain, Marianne Gordon who met future husband Kenny Rogers on the show , and Misty Rowe.

Hee Haw was a variety show featuring country music and cornpone-humor set in the fictional, rural, "Kornfield Kounty. Country music being a main theme on the show, often popular current country music stars were featured, usually singing their latest hit. The list literally goes on and on! They were a bunch of voluptuous, curvy women in classic, sexy farmer's daughter outfits including minidresses, tight midriff tops and the short jean shorts today known as Daisy Dukes! Although they are well remembered for their looks, they did have names -- fan favorites over the years included Lisa Todd, Linda Thompson, Marianne Gordon and Playboy models Barbi Benton and Anne Randall. Expected to possess cover-girl looks and comedic timing, these ladies more than carried their weight on the show. I bet more than a few city fellas would have gladly traded places with one of those goofy hillbillies for the chance to be in a cornfield with one of those girls! The show was popular across the country; from New York City to California; even attracting the socially, elite acting community.

Hee Haw is an American television variety show featuring country music and humor with the fictional rural "Kornfield Kounty" as the backdrop. Hosted by country music artists Buck Owens and Roy Clark for most of its run, the show was equally well known for its corn pone humor as for its voluptuous, scantily clad women called the Hee Haw Honeys in stereotypical farmer's daughter outfits. Hee Haw' s appeal, however, was not limited to a rural audience.
